Released in December 2007 by Jowood, the game didn't manage to gather too many fans although the purchase price is 15 euros, and the game is above the quality this branch has to offer. Oriented towards casual players, Aquadelic GT is a powerboat arcade racing which adds an arsenal of weapons giving the player a chance to harm the opponent. You can use torpedoes or jumping frogs to cause hostile waters for the opponents, and in some cases you can actually cause mayhem around you. And these actions by using only six keys: directional keys and two more for weapons and nitro-boost.

GTA similarities

Based on the GTA concept, the game offers you the opportunity to roam freely on three different environments (Greek port town, Russian riverside and Caribbean), each one having two different maps (islands). You have the same radar-map on the low left corner of your screen which displays the main locations of every island (private properties, sponsors, upgrade service, boats shop, harbors). It's hard to lose yourself on any island, that's because you have a full map at your disposal and a radar arrow will always show you the right way to the preferred objective.

So what do you have to do in this game? First you have to choose from five different avatars. The chosen one will represent you on the main objective which is to become winner of the Aquadelic GT Championship. The way up to the top is not so easy, as you have to spend money on new boats, estates, and upgrades. Every island has 2-3 races, every race having a different difficulty. You will start with an old wreck in the riversides of Russia doing different tasks: taxi service from one riverside to the other, gathering relics or rescuing people from drowning. In this way you can earn money which will be spent on the upgrades of your boat: engine, rudder, additional nitro slots (max: 3), custom horn, and custom painting.

There wasn't a big attention given to the upgrade options, so don't lose too much time with it. Earn as much money you can so that you can buy a new boat later on. The first six races can be completed with your old wreck, but the next set of races will demand a better boat. You can choose from slow but more stable boats, to long catamarans which are difficult to handle at high speeds. The secondary tasks are not so demanding to complete and will not earn too much money. Either collecting treasure stashes with yachts and cargo ships, or deploying crates with an airplane, these secondary tasks only have the goal to artificially increase the length of the gameplay. Flying the airplane will give the possibility to recognize the whole island which will help you in races, but also is fun adding diversity.

As a bonus you get the chance to take pictures with a virtual camera. These pictures can be published on your own webpage which uses the official game's domain. Nice trick. Besides the webpage, your pictures will be present also in the virtual PDA and will be displayed in the loading screen. The PDA is the central tool from where you can choose to view the full map of the island, emails from the sponsors, playlist, and general stats.
