24 Feb 2005 (Saturday, 2:52 AM) – What a night for a fright

Print Life has all kind of moments. Some good, some bad… and some really great. I guess it can be all a matter of perspective of course. Each has a different perspective on different things. To me, great moments can be the smallest things – like, for example, watching a movie that I like.
Not a lot of people share my views on the kind of things that I like, but I guess many of you may have that problem. Cheer up! Don’t be afraid to admit what YOU like in life just to be accepted by the masses. Be yourself!
You may be wondering what happened with me tonight. Some of you may even claim it’s the lack of sleep. Could be. But I always get nostalgic at certain movies, especially at late hours.
There are a few actually on my list of “best movies ever”. I will just tell you a few. “Leon – The Professional”, “Lost in Translation”, “Million Dollar Baby” and tonight I could add somewhere to that list “Elizabethtown” - good movies that you should see sometime… But then again, it’s all up to your taste, so watch something else as long as you feel good.
Speaking about feeling great, and also back to our thing – it’s really great when you win in the Arena (WoW of course)! And you feel bad when you lose (naturally). But it is even worse when you know you lost not because you play bad or you lack the skill, but because of the balance in the game. I always knew I had a reason to like PvE better, although even there some strange things are starting to show up. (As a side note, do not worry, we are still 70-70 wins-looses… we always seem to be 50%-50% but I think the skill and tactics are improving.)
A lot of our guild members are in the last part on the Karazan attunement chain: Black Morass - The Opening of the Dark Portal (Caverns of Time). While for some reason I managed to get attuned a bit ahead of everyone in a pick up group that had two shadow priests with no actual problems whatsoever (and when I say that I mean my health never dropped below 75%!), and I repeated the performance the next day with a guild group, yesterday when we tried to get 3 more people attuned we couldn’t manage to do it AT ALL. The group was the same as my second group: Druid tank, Paladin, two Warlocks. Everything went really well till the second boss. That’s 12 weaves of mobs spawning from portals. Then BOOM – we all seemed to die for some reason. Too many adds? Special boss attack? Hard to say…
5 attempts or more – that’s how many times we tried it. Same same problem.
While people will succeed eventually – one way or another – it’s still a strange instance to do (very luck dependant). A guild member claimed that it is really hard for certain classes to get attuned, because you really need a specific configuration of classes for some instances. Which could actually be quite true, at least until people get better gear.
Time will tell again I guess, we’ll just have to wait and see… “If it wouldn’t be this it would be something else…”
Anyway, I’m off to bed, I bid you good night, and will see you next time whenever that may be – maybe with a little more Arena PvP info. Or maybe not…
Bye!

| Battlefield Bad Company 2 March 16, 2010 The Battlefield franchise has been one of the few to preserve the high standards in multiplayer and somehow succeeded in coming up fresh all the time. Bad Company added some extra flavor with the brilliant singleplayer campaign, so it's only natural that the sequel was highly anticipated. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 might not be a giant leap forward from the previous title but it is still an excellent game, that will please both the dedicated fans and the newcomers who are bound to enjoy every minute of this sequel.

| NecroVision: Lost Company March 11, 2010 It's an amazing thing that actually The Farm 51 were able to create a prequel to their old-school zombie shooter in this hard times when even a blockbuster creator like Infinty Ward (for instance) are on the brink of collapse. But I assume the zombies' subject is still a popular and cheap element to exploit. NecroVision : Lost Company is slightly better than the original, but is still a mediocre game which scores at the gore section but brings nothing new.

| Gratuitous Space Battles The Order Expansion Pack March 8, 2010 Most videogames featuring large scale battles involving hefty fleets colliding in space, perceive the initial setup as nothing more then a prelude for the actual combat. Gratuitous Space Battles on the other hand focuses entirely on designing and deploying a balanced armada that is capable of annihilating the enemy fleet on its own. Once the battleships are in position, the orders have been issued and the fight commences, all you can do is sit back and enjoy the fireworks. Suffice to say this is one amazing show.
