Paragon Studios Launches Acclaimed Guest Author Missions in City of Heroes - News

Print Paragon Studios is proud to announce the addition of Bill Willingham, along with Rooster Teeth and Scott Kurtz as inaugural participants in the recently announced Guest Author program, made possible through the revolutionary Mission Architect tool set in City of Heroes. The Guest Author program provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for influential writers and aspiring game or story designers to work alongside a world-class development team to bring their ideas to life within a massive multiplayer online role playing game.
As one of North America's most popular MMO games and the premier MMO based on character super powers, City of Heroes is the perfect medium for writers and story creators of all kinds hoping to expand their audience and extend their reach into a large and enthusiastic community. Through the power of the Mission Architect tool, every player can create his or her own adventures and share those adventures with every other hero or villain in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.
The four inaugural guest author missions will premiere in-game on Tuesday, October 13, following the Reactivation and Double XP weekend that's going on now. The missions can be found in game by opening the browser inside one of the Architect Entertainment Buildings. Here are brief descriptions of the Guest Author missions:
Guest Author: Bill Willingham, New York Times bestselling writer, and the creator of the multiple award winning comic book series Fables
Title: "Quest for Magic"
Description: Irena Faust is tired of being a civilian in a super world, so she's embarked upon a quest for super powers. She thinks magic is the way to go and she has an idea of where to start. Can you help her?
Guest Author: Rooster Teeth, best known for the popular comedy series, Red vs. Blue
Title: "Mission: Awesome"
Description: Help Captain Dynamic defeat the Great Face's evil plans...

Title: "The Great Face-Off"
Description: The Great Face wants to wreak havoc on Paragon City. He needs your help to free him from Paragon Prison and then carry out his master plan...
Guest Author: Scott Kurtz, a full-time comic-strip artist for "PvP"
Title: "OMG, it's the LOLBAT!"
Description: OMG! Your new contact on the street is none other than the Internet meme-obsessed hero, the LOLBAT, and he brings grave if not confusing news. The Algonquin Hate Table, a rogues´ gallery of the LOLBAT's greatest foes, are looking to expand their heinous if not artfully influenced crime syndicate into Paragon City. If you know what's good for you and the citizens you protect, you won't let that happen. Luckily, the LOLBAT knows how these guys work and he's ready to help you defeat these pompous profligates.

And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

Sins of a Solar Empire
The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.

Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?

I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.

GC: Disciples 3: Renaissance
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.

Race 07
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
