Crysis - Game Review (PC)

Weapons are cool looking, and the arsenal is just right: not too many, not too few. You have your pistols, shotgun, precision rifle ("so called", rifles, a minigun, and an alien looking ice gun with infinite ammo at the end. At least that's what I remember... oh and a rocket launcher to take down heavy armored targets and choppers. Combine that with the weapons upgrade system and with your abilities for a nice variety.

Killing enemies with those weapons however can be very frustrating! At close range everything is fine; enemies usually die like they should. At least they die in less than one clip. Even then it's a bit awkward when a North Korean with no armor whatsoever can kill you in two shots while you and your amazing mega power multimillion dollar Nano Suit can't kill him in 15. Everything gets to epic proportions at long range, when even with a laser scope, sniper lens and precision rifle it takes you tons of bullets sometimes to kill your enemies. Not to mention that Nomad breathes like crazy every time and you can't hold your breath or anything similar to help you get a precise shot.

There will be times when you feel just like playing paintball with your enemies; just relax, breathe in, breathe out and yell "serenity now!" three times.

A really good thing about gameplay is that every situation has many possibilities to be solved: either you chose a stealthy approach and neutralize everyone before they have a chance to sound the alarm (possibly using the "tactical attachment" on your weapon, a poisoned dart (or flechette if you like ) that paralyses a soldier for a period of time, but has a rather big cooldown); or you go behind your enemies and use super strength to push some logs over them; or you just take a frontal approach and kill them all with the help of a vehicle or your favorite gun. Just play how you like! But I must warn you: while a direct approach will solve your objective in 5 minutes, a "stealth run" could take you up to 20 minutes. So consider carefully how you want to play the game.

Let's talk a bit more about your enemies. Most of your targets are members of the North Korean Army, but you will encounter aliens and enemy combat vehicles as well. And let's not forget that some North Koreans have a Nano Suit just like yours in the near future! I personally enjoyed them more because they look like Terminators and even use a minigun. I understand emptying 50 bullets in a hostile ugly-looking alien or a nasty Rambo/Terminator type... maybe that's more believable, but a poor 17 year old Korean infantry soldier that refuses to die... come on! It gets a bit better towards the end when you get some incendiary bullets with higher damage I suppose...

The enemy AI has been mentioned and praised many times. They should have human like behavior, take cover and work together. But I dare you to fire a single bullet at the beginning of a mission anywhere, and watch as every enemy on the map gets around you in a circle formation. You wait for them to compact a little (maybe under cloak) and then kill everyone. Then you can complete the whole map in complete silence and have no one bother you.

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

Sins of a Solar Empire
The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes versus Arsene Lupin
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
Silent Hunter 4: Pacific U-Boat Missions
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Sword of the New World: Granado Espada
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
GC: Disciples 3: Renaissance
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Nitro Stunt Racing Stage 1
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
GC: Aion Tower of Eternity
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
Race 07
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
