Devil May Cry 4 - Game Review (XB360)

Print I bet there isn't one gamer (either he's an action, strategy or role-playing fan) who hasn't heard of the Devil May Cry franchise. Because Devil May Cry brings pure action to the next-gen console and hardcore gamers have something to toggle with. But, it seems that Capcom decided to make this installment more accessible to the wide audience out there.
Dante's fans might be a bit disappointed to learn that he's not the main hero of the game, as Devil May Cry 4 is a sequel to the original Devil May Cry, at least chronologically.
It seems that Capcom pulled it again, by keeping the gameplay intact and enhancing the story a bit. What can we expect from this title of Devil May Cry? An intriguing story, in-game puzzles, hordes of enemies and great combos.
As the game begins, we are presented Nero, a rebel young man with the looks of Final Fantasy characters. He's assisting a ceremony for the God of Sparda, where the Order of the Sword is worshiping him. Then, Dante drops off the roof and plunges a bullet in the Order's leader head. A great fight is unleashed between Nero and Dante, with Dante fleeing the combat. At this point, Nero is pissed and takes off to find Dante seeking revenge and answers, journey divided into the 20 chapters of the game.
The fight with Dante serves as a tutorial for the basic moves, combos and defense. The great addition of the game is the, get ready… for the Devil Bringer. Yap, who would've thought? This wonderful skill is actually Nero's right arm. Not a regular arm but an enhanced arm capable of mass destruction within enemy lines. When used, the arm extends, unleashing a shadowy blue arm that can grab enemies, smite them into the ground, use them as a shield, even reach out for certain portals that will ensure access to different areas of the game.
Another type of attack is the Red Queen, a special name for a special weapon. The sword : ). The Red Queen does the most damage and various combos can be achieved by pressing short button sequence. I said the sword was a very special weapon because it benefits from a damage boost that can cut mountains in two and split the sea in half. It is called the Exceed system and when fully charged, red fire covers the blade. The Exceed system can be charged up to three levels by pressing the Left Trigger of the controller. Most of the time you're better off without using it, as it takes long to charge and the monsters can be squashed just by using normal attacks.
The last weapon from Nero's arsenal is the Blue Rose. Why do
all these names sound so girlish? This is actually a double-barreled gun that
can shoot up to 100 bullets per second. Nah, just kidding… or maybe it could… I
dunno
. The gun doesn't compare with the damage of the sword, but it's useful
if you want to keep monsters away as the bullets push them back.
At some point, Nero will unleash the true power of his demonic arm, transforming him into a demon for a short time. While in demon form, the attack damage is greatly increased as well as life regeneration.
You can live longer, if you buy potions that will upgrade your health and magic (Devil Trigger will last longer). Farming for Red Orbs will be something common, a mission or a secret mission will be replayed several times just to buy an upgrade. The fact that quitting the game is possible makes it so much easier; start - kill - quit - start - kill -quit…

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
