Mary Skalko, Disciples III project manager, and Marina Vashurina, .dat PR manager were kind enough to answer a few questions for us. Be sure to check out some exclusive screenshots as well.

1. Thank you for answering a few questions for our readers. First of all can you please introduce yourself, your team and your current projects you are working on?

Hi! We joined our efforts in answering your questions - Mary Skalko, Disciples III project manager, and Marina Vashurina, .dat PR manager.

Our development studio, .dat, was established in 2005. Our founders, a famous artist Andrew Ivanenko (aka Anry) and Dmitry Demianovsky, who used to be a lead programmer and a project leader of the Sea Dogs and Pirates of the Caribbean at Akella, applied their joined efforts to make what .dat is now. To date, the studio has recruited 25 professional game developers who are working on Disciples III: Renaissance - a new sequel to the legendary Disciples series.

2. We've learned that Disciples 3 will feature three playable races: ‘The Empire', ‘The Legions of the Damned' and the ‘Elven Alliance'. Can you tell us a bit more about each race? What kind of units should we expect? Which will be new and which will make a comeback? Could you pretty please consider adding the ‘Undead' to the playable races? They were my favorites!

It's true; we'll have three playable races - Empire, Legions of the Damned, and Elves. However we are considering adding the Undead in some future iteration.

As for units, main modifications refer to graphics and, owing to the new combat system - unit characteristics. All in all, we can say, Disciples being a full-fledged strategy incorporates the graphical system worth the level of modern RPGs. The Thief is a fully-featured leader and just like all the other leaders he can have and take control of a squad.

Besides, we decided not to introduce a new variant of Rodplanter - however, we've added Land Guardian. It'll be possible to buy that in the city. The Guardian will fight and level up. He will be able to use spells and summon creatures.

3. The graphics are completely reworked with the help of the new Virtual Dream engine that is developed in-house. As I've seen from the trailers it works really well on low-end systems. How powerful is it and what should we expect from the graphics, units and animations? Are there going to be two distinct display modes for battles and exploring?

The game is based on the in-house engine. The graphical requirements include a video card (Radeon 9600 or higher) and processor (2,4 GHz or more). The game works pretty well on low-end systems - however, you're going to lack some options.

Just like in the previous sequels, Disciples III will have two modes - the world map and battle arena.

4. The Disciples series was and still is one of the best turn-based strategy series, with a big fan base. Seeing all these changes to 3D and combat, aren't you afraid you are going to lose some fans? Is this the right way to go? What are the main features of Disciples 3 that will attract gamers most?

We truly believe that we've made a correct choice about the Disciples sequel development. We're going to keep all those features that attracted so many strategy fans while we're planning to add many new features. Frankly speaking, every innovation faces challenges - there are supporters and their counterparts - it's close to impossible to cater to all the gamers' needs and requirements. However we do hope that most gamers are going to like what they will see:

- considerable improvements in combat system. We omit static battles; it will be feasible to fight taking advantage of the terrain peculiarities which will enhance the player's possibilities in the game.

- New graphical system applied - Disciples III has been transformed to full 3D. The game has become much more vivid and exciting in terms of gameplay and gamer's tactical possibilities.

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

Sins of a Solar Empire
The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes versus Arsene Lupin
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
Silent Hunter 4: Pacific U-Boat Missions
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Sword of the New World: Granado Espada
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
GC: Disciples 3: Renaissance
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Nitro Stunt Racing Stage 1
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
GC: Aion Tower of Eternity
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
Race 07
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
