Print Among the most famous RPG franchises in gaming history, there is one that just stands out for its unique and cool feel that was never reproduced by any other game: Fallout. Not only did Fallout 1 and its successful sequel Fallout 2 manage to create one of the most believable post-apocalyptic, nuclear futures, but in doing so it managed to draw attention and capture the imagination of millions of fans worldwide, and the computer games industry will be forever influenced by this franchise.
Several years have passed after Interplay's demise, and the rumors that Bethesda was working on the third installment of Fallout caught everyone's attention, even if the opinions were spread between the two camps: pro and anti Bethesda.
Now if we remember properly, up until now Bethesda was famous for Morrowind and Oblivion, two really popular RPGs that brought a lot of innovative aspects to the gaming industry and were famous for offering many possibilities of character development and multiple choices. Still, there were plenty of voices that didn't like some aspects of those two games, things like the sometimes meaningless and too serious, long conversations, or the monsters level scaling to match the main character just to mention a few.
Nay-sayers were afraid that Bethesda will make the same "mistakes" to the "perfect" Fallout universe. But even if everyone had their doubts about the third game of the series, I'm 100% sure that fan or foe alike will try this game, because it's just too big of a deal to ignore.
The results and feelings about this game are just as mixed as before, some liking it quite a bit, some finding it a decent RPG, and some hardcore fans taking it off cannon and swearing they'll never play again... just one more hour... and one more... and one more...
Without any doubt I can say that this is Bethesda's greatest game yet, and that can't be contested by anyone (*I think* - fingers crossed). They've done a remarkable job with the graphics and environment, and the moment you get out of that Vault 101 and look at all the world around you, your jaw will drop because of the size alone if not for something else.
Familiar enemies make a comeback and they look bigger and cooler than ever, thanks to the new perspective of the game: meanwhile, the camera angle has changed from a top-down, isometric look, to a first/third person shooter perspective (you can change it how you like at any time). But this change brings an interesting problem: the strategic, turn based combat that you knew from previous Fallouts is no more.
You can instead use the new "VATS" (or Vault Assisted Targeting System) to aid you in a more strategic combat, or just point and shoot a target in the purest FPS way. I think this fresh new approach is the most criticized part of the new game, just because the old ones were so strategic and all about thinking, and this one isn't. The game pauses when you activate this new system, and lets you pick where to shoot, or perform any other action such as heal yourself, use the inventory, throw explosives and so on. The number of actions that you can perform per VATS instance are measured by the AP stats, or action points. Usually you get 3 or 4 shots at the beginning, and you may get more AP as you level up. The points regenerate then in real time. Of course, the game takes into consideration the part of the body you shoot at, your skill with different weapons, your strength and perception skill, and so on and so forth, but is it really that hard to point at one enemy's head and click?

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.

What are you talking about, believable? It’s got some of the most outlandish and quirky takes on a PA environment ever to hit a monitor’s screen. Did you even play Fallout 2? Pop culture references by the hundreds, Monty Python cameos and that’s if you manage to utterly and completely ignore the STORYLINE, which includes but is not restricted to: cold fusion discovered, ‘40s and early 50s “duck and cover” design bits in a futuristic universe, a completely different aftermath to the 2nd World War, etc. You don’t want me posting spoilers around here so I’ll just stop there, but despite it’s immersiveness and complexity, the Fallout universe is everything BUT believable.

Since when “should” anyone pump a preset configuration into an RPG? Least of all Fallout, which you claim to be “a die-hard Fallout fan ever since [you were] a little gamer”. You should have known that one of the most solid aspects in Fallout (1 and 2) was that you could play a large variety of character styles, and there’s really nothing you “should” do when making up or specializing your character except think. -_-

Me, my colleague Alex and I'm sure everyone here at Games32 will always welcome constructive criticism. That said, making fun of some auto-correct spelling mistakes or just spelling a seldom word wrong happens even to the greatest writers, and it happened to us as well despite our efforts to avoid them.
If we talk about Fallout facts, it's not a question of "who has the biggest" article, who played the most Fallout in this world, and who is an almighty god. We know about your Fallout review published roughly the same time as ours, and think that instead of pointing us to an English lessons site, you maybe wanted to point us in the direction of your computergames.ro article.
You have your share of wrong facts there, even if you read the entire Wikipedia about Fallout, trust me. I will not go into a game of "point out the other's mistakes" because that is just childish.
Instead, I'm gonna say thank you for pointing out to our spelling mistakes, and will not go into the level scaling, because "a variation" that works on specific monsters and is not the same thing - it's a debatable problem at least.
It's easy to write 2-3 articles as a freelancer a year and publish them on a website, without any pressure and with plenty of time. When you have a review per week with a lot more work on the side, you will see it's not so hard to make some tiny mistakes from time to time.
