Let’s talk about weapons. Gears combines old style weapons like Magnum or the Shotgun with new ones like the Assault Rifle equipped with a chainsaw or the Hammer of Dawn. If you get tired of the basic guns, just pick up the fallen enemies guns and see how you can handle them. The ammunition can be found from time to time in specific places, but another way to get it is to take the weapons left on the floor (from dead enemies who no longer need them) that are the same type as the one you’re holding. The Assault Rifle is very useful because of the chainsaw attached - once the chainsaw is started, there’s no escape for the victim.

The Hammer of Dawn can only be used outdoors, by marking a target with a laser pointer. A satellite fires a laser beam onto that location. This weapon is useful for boss fights or monsters that are immune to regular weaponry. Also, a revamped slick reloading system has been implemented. If you press the RT button your weapon will start reloading; and if you press it again on a special place on the reloading bar you will not only reload your gun faster but the next bullets fired will have a higher damage (for a short period of course).
