World Cyber Games announces partnership with Samsung - News

The World Cyber Games (WCG), the blue chip leader for international video game competitions, today announced a high-profile partnership agreement with the recognized PC Monitor leader Samsung SyncMaster Monitors. The announcement was made by International Cyber Marketing (ICM) the global organizer of the WCG.

As an official partner, Samsung will be the exclusive LCD monitor of the World Cyber Games 2008. A best-selling computer monitor brand for more than 20 years and leader in technological and visual superiority, Samsung will supply official monitors for the WCG 2008 Grand Final in Cologne, Germany as well as the United States National Final and the Korean National Final. At each of these events, Samsung will provide state-of-the-art, wide LCD Monitors for all PC tournament competitions. Additionally, the company will provide brand new wide monitors with webcams for the staff areas and the media center. Samsung SyncMaster has also been named the title partner for the players practice area, which will henceforth be known as the "SyncMaster Practice Area." Samsung has been sponsoring the WCG for the last 3 years.

In return, Samsung SyncMaster will receive a title sponsor practice room and the company will receive presence in the "Welcome Pack Promotion" giveaway to players and VIP participants, such as journalists and partners

The WCG has never had wide monitors at its events before and this will only enhance the quality and look of the competition." said Hyoung-Seok Kim, CEO of ICM, the global organizer of the WCG. "Samsung SyncMaster monitors will fit in perfectly with the abundance of state-of-the-art equipment the World Cyber Games brings to each e-Sport competition and our event will provide a one-of-a-kind forum for them to show off in front of a great audience of gaming enthusiasts." said YongJin Park, Vice President of Samsung's Visual Display Division.

With well over one million players from more than 70 countries, the World Cyber Games is widely regarded as the gaming world's premier tournament. Featuring online and offline events held throughout the world, the year-long series attracted more than 1.5 million competitors worldwide in 2007. The 2007 WCG Grand Final in Seattle, Washington broke new ground as more than 29 million people tuned in to watch the competition unfold in real-time, marking the largest global, live satellite broadcast for an e-Sports event. Additionally, the World Cyber Games was recently recognized by Guinness World Records for the World's Largest Video Game Competition with over 1.5 million competitors worldwide.
