Print CityScape 1.8 is focused on prototyping, rapid iteration, and creative freedom allow designers and artists to play test their environments sooner and make better design choices. CityScape's core technology improves productivity for racing, open world, and sci-fi games. The underlying technology is agnostic to the genre of game, targeting workflow improvements for content creators.
PixelActive announces the release of CityScape version 1.8, the latest version of its rapid urban modeling and simulation software for game developers, GIS professionals, simulation makers, and urban planners.
CityScape 1.8 includes: Enhanced road editing capabilities, improved GIS importing, a flexible meta data system, new import and export formats, a redesigned user interface with icons and hotkeys, and performance improvements. The road editing tools add a tangent editor, tunnels, and complex intersections. GIS importing supports NAVTEQ, Tele Atlas, OpenStreetMap, custom shapefiles, aerial imagery, geolocated geometry, elevation data and GIS data preprocessing. The meta data system uses custom and default templates to add data to objects, exports meta data to COLLADA, Filmbox, or CSV, and calculates meta data on the fly given basic building data.
CityScape "allows [researchers] to really think about all these different ways they want to test their devices. They can easily make city environments with [CityScape]. They can easily make rural environments. They can easily make expressway environments. So they can get that all out of the way, and then concentrate on their work." says Larry Cathey, Sr. Project Manager at Realtime Technologies, Inc.
"In 1.8, we wanted to create an application that was as easy to pick up for users of Photoshop or Maya, but still have the control and detail artists require to visualize their ideas. We're very happy with the result and look forward to our users' feedback." say Steve Rotenberg, PixelActive CEO.
"We made significant improvements to our GIS importing functionality. Simulation companies, video game developers, and urban planners all see the market demand for larger environments. These environments are used for training simulations, racing games in destination locations, and the visualization of master planned communities. CityScape allows teams to scale their environments without losing control of design or art style."
The CityScape team paid close attention to user feedback in developing the new version. "All the new features came out of conversations with our customers. We're really trying to make CityScape a program that helps people build better environments faster and more efficiently."

| NecroVision: Lost Company March 11, 2010 It's an amazing thing that actually The Farm 51 were able to create a prequel to their old-school zombie shooter in this hard times when even a blockbuster creator like Infinty Ward (for instance) are on the brink of collapse. But I assume the zombies' subject is still a popular and cheap element to exploit. NecroVision : Lost Company is slightly better than the original, but is still a mediocre game which scores at the gore section but brings nothing new.

| Gratuitous Space Battles The Order Expansion Pack March 8, 2010 Most videogames featuring large scale battles involving hefty fleets colliding in space, perceive the initial setup as nothing more then a prelude for the actual combat. Gratuitous Space Battles on the other hand focuses entirely on designing and deploying a balanced armada that is capable of annihilating the enemy fleet on its own. Once the battleships are in position, the orders have been issued and the fight commences, all you can do is sit back and enjoy the fireworks. Suffice to say this is one amazing show.

| Mass Effect 2 March 4, 2010 Mass Effect 2 is the comeback of one of our most beloved
games we ever played here at Games32, and the highest rated review to
date.
While everyone reckons nothing is perfect, Mass Effect managed to be
such a fun
and enjoyable game for a wide variety of players that is really
pointless to
point out flaws and one is better off showing how much this game - or
rather
how much you, as a player, can accomplish through it.

| Star Trek Online January 22, 2010 What is interesting and unique about STO is that you have two separate stages of gameplay: the space stage - where you command your own starship and use it to fight your way through and investigate various situations, but also to move from one sector of the galaxy to another of course; and the ground stage - where your away team teleports to a planet, station or boards a ship and tries to solve problems more delicately, although most missions still result in firefights to be honest, because well... that's so exciting.

| Gratuitous Space Battles October 20, 2009 I've only had the opportunity of testing a pre-release beta
version of Cliff "Cliffski" Harris' Gratuitous Space Battles, but I can tell
you I've had great fun with it. The game is developed for braniacs and lets
your imagination thrive, even if it's a top-down, 2D strategy. Looking forward
to check out multiplayer and the final version.

| World of Warcraft: Cataclysm September 8, 2009 World of Warcraft: Cataclysm promises to be one of the turning points for the Warcraft universe, not only advancing the story and lore, but also offering a new and more beginner friendly experience to new players who are just starting up on the game. That said, it is obvious veteran players haven't been forgotten, and as I've seen from this year's Blizzcon, everyone will be happy to know development work looks quite advanced, and we can probably expect this pack to arrive probably sooner than later.
