Majesty 2 - Game Review (PC)

By Paguba Florin

Majesty 2
Majesty 2 is not an experiment in the RTS industry, trying to set a new trend by stripping the strategy games of their defining features, such as micromanagement or resource gathering. Its predecessor brilliantly succeeded in presenting the gamer with this different approach on the conventional RTS titles, and 1C's release is just taking the experience to a different level.

Champions Online - Game Review (PC)

Champions Online
While some may look the other way when you try to tell them about a comic book superhero game, I urge you not to. Champions Online is a class game, offering great gameplay and cool character customization. It had some launch issues, some have been resolved, some are still there... but if I had to make a top of MMOs I had most fun with, CO would certainly be a part of it. But before you do a lifetime subscription, try it for a month first...

Need for Speed: SHIFT - Game Review (PC)

Need for Speed SHIFT
EA decided to play their last cards upon Need for Speed series, after last year's disaster, releasing a whole new creation focusing more on the simulation aspect of virtual racing, bringing back some old school elements such as the cockpit view (first time since Porsche Unleashed) but still keeping some stylish details from the newer titles such as Need for Speed: Carbon or Need for Speed: Pro Street. While the combination was looking good on the paper, the Need for Speed: SHIFT cannot keep the pace with the best sim-racing games out there and will not become a real contender against the upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 or Grand Turismo 5.

WET - Game Review (XB360)

WET
Rubi Malone is an awesomely cool character, and WET can be a great action game experience at times. But there are some things that don't quite add up. There are many many cool moments to be lived in-game, but when combined, or when transitioning from one to another, they feel less than the sum of their parts. You always get that feeling: "man, I did like that last zone, but what the heck am I doing here now?!".

Dawn of Magic 2 - Game Review (PC)

Dawn of Magic 2
If Dawn of Magic 2 was intended as a tribute to old school RPG games, than I'd be happy to acknowledge Sky Fallen's efforts of coming up with a decent title, despite the low budget. It draws inspiration from a bunch of games, the genre's fans are familiar with, and by saying this I'm simply using an euphemism, instead of naming it a low-priced Diablo clone.

Colin McRae: DiRT 2 - Game Review (XB360)

Colin McRae DiRT 2
DiRT 2, the last addition in Colin McRae off-road racing series, brings a scalable difficulty level becoming a product worth playing by most of the casual gamers. With a long but addictive singleplayer career and a whole new multiplayer mode this game can easily be considered one of the best games of this genre. But I have some mixed feelings about it.

Section 8 - Game Review (XB360)

By Paguba Florin
Published: September 9, 2009

Section 8
Section 8 is by no means a videogame pretending to revolve around a solid, cohesive storyline that will inspire players and make a long lasting impression. Instead, Timegate focused on delivering a competent shooter featuring intricate, yet alluring gameplay that should make it a fun game,- with a challenging multiplayer. The result is nothing short of spectacular and this highly anticipated title has a good chance of catching the eye of the more savvy consumers, who can appreciate a quality sci-fi FPS.

Raven Squad - Game Review (PC)

Raven Squad
If you read the fact sheet of Raven Squad it's hard not to have high expectations about Atomic Motion's release, because a game combining FPS and RTS elements is nothing short of intriguing. Unfortunately this title doesn't quite rise up to the challenge and although the result is an exciting shooter with a few tactical features, some people might feel somehow cheated.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Game Review (XB360)

Batman Arkham Asylum
Either you are a Batman fan or not, Batman: Arkham Asylum is a "must have". Combining fast paced melee combat with stealth elements and introducing most of the classical characters from Batman's universe (either from cartoons or animated movies) this game surpasses most of the expectations and can be easily considered one of the best action games of this year.

Wolfenstein - Game Review (XB360)

Wolfenstein
Once again agent Blazkowicz saves the world from a threat of huge, paranormal proportions. He should star in Ghost Busters or something. It proves that he was the man who single-handedly turned the World War II tide in favor of the Allies and as we will probably find out in a future episode, will win the war for them. Seriously though, the new Wolfenstein that they couldn't find an appropriate name for is a pretty decent game, a nice shooter, that has many fun elements and it grows on you. Only downside is that it hasn't much to do with the ol' Wolf 3D game, so some old school gamers may end up a little disappointed.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
September 8, 2009
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm promises to be one of the turning points for the Warcraft universe, not only advancing the story and lore, but also offering a new and more beginner friendly experience to new players who are just starting up on the game. That said, it is obvious veteran players haven't been forgotten, and as I've seen from this year's Blizzcon, everyone will be happy to know development work looks quite advanced, and we can probably expect this pack to arrive probably sooner than later.  [...]

Champions Online
August 27, 2009
Champions Online is not the only MMO to be released this year, but it is definitely one of the most anticipated ones, following the considerable success of its predecessor: City of Heroes. This latest release from Cryptic Studios will face a fierce competition, but those who are willing to trade a fantasy universe with a more gritty one, without forsaking a quality MMO may find a great alternative in it.  [...]
