Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - Game Review (PC)

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
In 2003 Ubisoft bought the Might and Magic franchise from The 3DO Company. Being a very popular and legendary series of games, which was launched for the first time in 1986 by New Wolrd Computing, the franchise was purchased for $1.3million. The series included nine official parts which were released beginning with the first one in 1986 up to 2002 the ninth part of the series. Along these years, the universe of Might and Magic encountered several changes in gameplay, story and design. But at its fundamentals, the game remained the same RPG based on a turn based game style. Along with Ultima and Wizardry series it is considered one of the best and defining role playing games. The first person view was the common characteristic to the whole series of games. Unfortunately because of the old technical resources of that time, this view was somehow limited, but at the same time could create an original feeling of the games. Ubisoft decided to release a new Might and Magic game, without any connection with the previous parts of the series. The new product called Dark Messiah is based on the Source engine from Valve, and is an action game with some few RPG elements. From its first official demo release, the game created a good impact on editors and gamers. The physical engine showed its powerful breed by a single level where you could encounter almost every aspect of its abilities. But in almost every case, the final product tends to be more dissapointing than the demo or other trailers and official materials. Dark Messiah can be considered a new mainstrean masterpiece, or a bad<->good action game. Let's see why! There are three factors to be analyzed in order to find the good and bad parts of this game.

World of Warcraft - Game Review (PC)

World of Warcraft
"Four years have passed since the mortal races banded together, and stood united against the might of the Burning Legion. Though Azeroth was saved, the tenuous pact between the Horde and the Alliance has all but evaporated. The drums of war thunder once again."I must admit, at first I was unimpressed by this game. Friends were playing, and I used to watch them to see "what's this all about".

FIFA 2007
For those of you who have lived under a rock for the last 10 years, I should mention that Fifa Soccer is the best soccer simulation game on the market. For the others, I am sure you already know what a great game it is and I guarantee you that Fifa Soccer 07 is the best in the series. Why is it the best? Well we'll see that later on, but for now, I should mention that although it has awesome graphics, sound, and gameplay, it still has many minuses. In some areas, it could be considered rather disappointing.

Broken Sword: The Angel of Death - Game Review (PC)

Broken Sword The Angel of Death
Known by old gamers as a masterpiece of adventure games, Broken Sword is back with a new episode. Created by game designer Charles Cecil who is working at Revolution Software, the game is a series of adventures, which revolves around George Stobbart and Nico Collard. Although based on history and mythology the stories are fiction. In the first two games of the series, the characters were controlled in a traditional point-and-click way and the players had to interact with cartoon-animated backgrounds. However, the last two games are based on a 3D graphics engine that the player operates through a direct control system.

Rise of Nations:Rise of Legends - Game Review (PC)

Rise of Nations Rise of Legends
Leonardo da Vinci was a great man. Except from his wonderful ideas he also was an artist and a philosopher. Studied with some of the great people from Italy that lived at that time and learned from each one. I would like to say the same thing about Big Huge Games, the developers of Rise of Legends, but I can't. From my perspective, they took Rise of Nations ideas and other small ideas from other games and implemented into Legends. While Leonardo's schematics where very interesting and showed a lot of foreseeing at that time, even if they have a few flaws that made the inventions not working, Rise of Legends is trying to take the fame of Rise of Nations further but they stumble over a few things that are easy compared to what they achieved overall.

Joint Task Force
Joint Task Force is a story of modern war where players match superior tactics and military technology against dangerous unconventional forces around the globe. The game's exacting attention to detail – from buildings that dynamically collapse to military vehicles modeled down to the last rivet – will create a new benchmark for modern-day RTS games.

MotorStorm was one of the few exclusive PS3 games, that had a really big success at the official launch of PS3 in US and Europe. Later sold also as a bonus product for the bundle PS3 packages, MotorStorm succeeded in creating a big fan-base especially after Sony introduced downloadable content in the first version of Playstation Network.
