Europa Universalis Rome - Game Review

Europa Universalis Rome
This is the latest addition to the Europa Universalis series developed by Paradox Interactive, a title aiming to be a simplified yet dynamic version of the original game and its sequels. While it is miles away from becoming a popular game for the masses, it is only fair to say that it brilliantly succeeds in cutting down the redundant aspects without losing the depth and complexity that granted this franchise a firm place in the TBS industry.

Assassin's Creed Director's Cut Edition
Jerusalem. The XII century. Amidst the chaos of the third crusade, a brotherhood of warriors rose to power. Shrouded in secrecy, feared for their ruthlessness, they alone would save the Holy Land... or destroy it. They were the Assassins...

Overclocked: A History of Violence - Game Review

Overclocked: A History of Violence
I`ve always had a soft spot for adventure games that do more than rattle your brains with difficult, meaningless quests, but I find it more and more difficult for a game to impress me to the point where I actually remember it for more than a couple of days. Overclocked: A History of Violence successfully falls into this category, with an excellent story, dark atmosphere and fantastic music. Trust me, it`s definitely worth your time.

Uefa Euro 2008 - Game Review

Uefa Euro 2008
A major event such as the Euro 2008 couldn't go unnoticed at EA Sports so the latest addition to the famous franchise is of course dedicated to the most expected competition this year. Sure enough, soccer didn't change too much since 2007 so nobody can argue that the latest title is not a breakthrough in the genre industry, but does it have enough new features to endure the test of time...well at least to hang in there until 2009 when another installment will emerge?

Jack Keane - Game Review

Jack Keane
This year's Spring could definitely be considered a reviving period for the adventure genre. Games like Overclocked, The Experiment (known as Experience 112 in Europe), Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis (known as Sherlock Holmes vs Arsene Lupin in Europe), Sam & Max Season Two, Darkness Within, The Lost Crown: A Ghost-hunting Adventure, are products that have passed the mediocre quality barrier. And Jack Keane makes no exception. A popular game in Germany back in 2007 (and actually developed by German company Deck 13, known for Ankh and Ankh II), Jack Keane also reached US stores. Whether it will receive the same welcome as in Europe, it's actually a matter of publishing politics. But it can surely win some fans.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - Game Review

Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Rainbow Six Vegas set the standards very high but still some of the hardcore fans of the franchise were convinced that the sequel could outstrip the original in every aspect and become another milestone in the FPS industry. While this remains a wildly optimistic idea, the latest addition to the successful series is definitely a step forward, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 being the best tactical shooter available.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War - Soulstorm
Nearly 4 years have passed since the release of the original Warhammer: Dawn of War, which brought significant changes to the strategy genre. After a couple of satisfying, albeit short add-ons, we are now graced with another add-on, to quench our thirst for strategy. Can this part be considered a worthy addition to the Warhammer saga or is it simply a desperate attempt to save an old game?

Seven Kingdoms Conquest - Game Review

Seven Kingdoms Conquest

Some games are considered to be ahead of their time by introducing unique concepts that move the RTS industry a step forward and insure that this last bastion of PC games will endure. It is not the case with Seven Kingdoms Conquest, a game which doesn't bring anything new, furthermore destroys the credibility of the previous title and shatters any hope of a possible successful sequel.

Silent Hunter 4: Pacific U-Boat Missions - Game Review

Silent Hunter 4: Pacific U-Boat Missions
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.

Race Driver: GRID
May 15, 2008

Codemasters will definitely conquer the racing genre step by step. In just a few months they took two important steps. First was the acquisition of the Racing Studio from Birmingham (actually owned by Sega), and second was the acquisition of F1 Racing Series rights to develop and publish games based on them. Grid is just an obvious release from a successful franchise that has the purpose to highlight the fact Codemasters are one of the best racing games developers.

The Bad, the Ugly and the Sober
February 13, 2008

Litera and Akella bring us back, if only for a little while, to the old days when Adventures and Quest games were the king with their latest Wild Wild West game: The Bad, the Ugly and the Sober. And it's nice to be back! I remember in the old days when I used to spend hours on Lucas Arts games like Day of the Tentacle or Indiana Jones. The Bad, the Ugly and the Sober manages to recreate some of the thrill and excitement of the old school Adventures.
