This new episode begins directly into action, as both Freelance Police agents arrived back home. Flint with his schizophrenic eyes makes the dramatic announcement: Bosco has vanished from the face of the Earth. First scene takes place at the Bosco's store where you will make the first investigations.

This is the first time you will enter in the secret bathroom and will find all the disguise tools used in previous episodes by Bosco. But the bathroom is also a landing point for an UFO! Aliens, Bosco, Sam and Max, this is obviously an explosive combination! You have to play it to believe it.

Every episode must bring a "toy" so that both Freelance Police members should play with it. And what other perfect "toy" to bring but an elevator time-machine.

If you haven't heard of time paradox, then you would definitely hear it here. As you expect, Sam and Max are a "wonder" of nature, so they are the perfect characters to use the time machine and to bring "order" in the Universe. Almost every episode was criticized by making the player running for clues through the same locations over and over again. And every transition from one location to the other was boring and repetitive. So they used the idea of time machine not only as a part of a script plan, but also to eliminate those dead moments when you had to walk from one location to the other all over again. In this way they had the opportunity to include many more scenes using the same amount of disk space. There are seven different locations from present, past and future, some of them with more than one scene.

And these by just accessing them from the elevator. In this way it's much easier for the gamer to try more solutions and combinations to determine the right result of the puzzle.

The idea of the whole episode is to collect objects from present and future, combine them in the past so that you can create time line anomalies. In this way you can manipulate the present for your own good. Let's take for example the A.I. puzzle. You have to unglue the portable A.I. from the elevator door. But you can't take it, because it is stucked with a indestructible glue. You have to find out in the future who has invented this glue and destroy the patent invention in the past. In this way you have created a time stream anomaly in present which makes the glue a nonexistent object. So the portable A.I. will just fall down.

Chariots of the Dogs is made up of many ideas inspired by sci-fi movies such as: Back to the Future, Time Machine, Planet of the Apes, etc. Traveling from one decade to the other you will take part at many events present in earlier episodes, causing situations which were plots back then. From the scenario point of view it is a smart approach of everything that meant Sam and Max until present. And when you think that the whole Universe was caused by them!

In the end you will stumble upon two questions: "how did the mariachi die in the future?" and "which was the first: the egg or the chicken?". As stupid and illogically it may sound, these two questions must be answered by Sam and Max. And you have to help them to get rid of T.H.E.M.
