After an extensively long period of time in development (see what I did there?), TimeShift is finally aligned with our current timeframe. But read fast! As I do not know for how long!
When Aiden Krone uses an experimental alpha suite to travel back in time and changes the past in his favor, making him the world biggest dictator world has ever seen, you have to think fast and make the best use of the one minute left before the secret facility you are in explodes and the timeline rearranges to reflect the changes Krone did. So without even the possibility of saying goodbye to your friends and co-workers you jump into your only other option left: the beta suit. Why didn't he take the beta suit in the first place anyway? Bah, temporal paradoxes, who understands them these days?!
So you make the time jump just before the "big bang" happens and of course the temporal drive malfunctions. You end up in an alternate past where Krone is now the supreme leader, and the rebel movement is getting more and more powerful. But because of Krone's temporal powers that make him almost a god, they need you and your suit to have a fighting chance. So you go far and wide, across mountains and plains, in war factories and big zeppelins and destroy everything in sight in order to fulfill your final goal: take care of Krone, get his temporal drive and restore the original timeline!
Did that sound like an imdb description or what? I know, I'm *that* good!
Seriously, after several delays and revamps of the Saber Interactive game, it finally got released and can successfully compete with today's most sophisticated first person shooters, in both multiplayer and singleplayer. Of course, such a long period of development took its toll a bit on the shooter, and along with fancy textures, shaders, cool weapons and gadgets we can, from time to time, see some low res textures or strange looking bushes with bitmap leaves that you cannot pass through. But even on the low resolution textures we have very high levels of bump mapping so they look very good from far away. So as I've said, TimeShift looks good and plays good.

The weapons look also very Sci-Fi yet they are familiar enough to recognize them easily. Yes, the shotgun is still the king of them all, as in any shooter of course... *bang*
You can carry 3 weapons tops on you at a time, but you can pick up anything you want and replace your current weapon. The catch is that, because of the time-slowing abilities you possess, and probably afraid the game might get too simple, the developers decided that your enemies should die very hard. So even if you freeze time and empty a whole cartridge into a single target, he might not still die. He could die, but usually there are 20 more around him, and you're out of time powers and with an empty weapon by the time you're done with your initial target.
As usual, you have pistols, close-range weapons, machine guns and sniper weapons.
Tip: Even if you encounter it rarely in the game and only for specific missions, the sniper rifle is in my opinion the wisest thing to have in your arsenal. Since you keep all the weapons from a mission to the next, you might as well hold on to it. Ammunition comes in boxes and gives you the exact bullets for what you have on you, so that won't be a problem. Why the sniper rifle you say? Well if you slow down time, you can take anyone out in one blow, and usually from a decent range. Remember to un-pause time as soon as you've dealt with your enemies!
Saber will try to push the Sci-Fi Crossbow (or Flechette-thrower - I just love that word, it's so full of "flavor" *wink*) on you. Basically it's a crossbow with an incendiary arrow that explodes on impact. The thing is that it has a traveling time, and it's not instant as the bullet; also it doesn't explode instantaneously, so... Be wise, use the classic sniper.
Of course, weapons are much more balanced in multiplayer. We'll talk about that when we get there.

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
