By Flaviu Volosciuc
Published: May 5, 2009
Print Epic's first-person shooter prequel received the fifth patch to update the game to version 2.1. The new patch is available as a manual version for PC and Linux but also on Steam for the digital editions of the game. The manula patch for PC can be found here. List of changes:
UI:
- Disabled wrap for options lists on PC.
- Split out player and bot counts on mixed servers in server browser.
- No longer require double clicking on main menu.
- Fixed problem with vote menu, where list positions and scrollbar get reset after the menu updates
- Fixed issue with 'no password' connection error not asking for a password, when in online play
- Fixed issue with dialog boxes, where button positions are not updated correctly after resolution or message length changes
- Made the Instant Action and Host Game menus properly recover the saved mutator list, when the Mutator menu is not opened.
- Fixed an incorrect call to WorldInfo.TravelFailed, and fixed the 'Incorrect Password' dialog not asking for a password.
Game:
- No longer disable achievements for mods that don't contain code (maps and custom characters).
- Fixed issues with weapons respawning with Duel and with WeaponsRespawn mutator.
- Reduced visibility of DM beacons in darkmatch.
- Fixed greed exploit with redeemer.
- Updated russian localization. Thanks Michael Sokolkov.
- Removed os helper workaround for Windows 2003 server, now that we have a better fix.
- Fixed low gore issue with Titans.
- Fix for wrong team shader in rare cases.
- Fixed dropflag command not working. Also fixes a CTF exploit.
- Fixed excessive link beam decals for listen servers.
- Fixed warfare orb not showing up on minimap on second and subsequent rounds on map where teams switch sides.
- Reduced damage to nodes/cores from dead Titan explosion.
- Reduced damage Titans do to nodes/core with weapons.
- Titan melee doesn't knock down spawn protected players.
Server Administration:
- Fixed problem where maplist entries contain unwanted whitespace, and
move invalid maplist entries to a separate 'BadMaps' list,
instead of just deleting them
- Fixed bug where the advertised game was wrong after switching gametypes, but only for the startup gametype
- Fixed bug with password being removed from URL, during non-seamless travel on the same server
- Fixed bug where the current game profiles mutators would be carried over into other gametypes
- Added 'MapReplayLimit' to UTMapList; this overrides the same value in UTMapListManager, unless set to -1
- Added code to trim down the size of server details results when they
become too large, fixes problem where servers would not be advertised
- Adjusted vote code to end vote rounds early, when all players have
voted, and to switch map immediately instead of respecting the
'EndTimeDelay' and 'RestartWait' settings
- In endgame votes, forcibly extend the first vote round by 16 seconds (i.e. the time it takes for the vote menu to popup)
- Added admin-only buttons to the vote menu, which allow admins to force a winning vote
- Fixed non-seamless travel client timeout disconnects.
- Now consider server "pure" with same rules as achievements (custom maps, characters, and Epic mutators + webadmin allowed).
- Adjusted mutator voting to properly account for mutators in the game profile settings (both added and excluded mutators)
Mod support:
- Fixed problem with cooking with -mod and ModShaderCache
- Fixed map makers unable to cook when using Titan Pack assets.
May need to delete GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk from My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC
- Added mutator hook for blocking team changes
Level specific:
- Fixed WAR-Confrontation raptor exploit.
- Possible fix for darkmatch memory leak.
- Added refshadercache to patch, so titan content will have shaders compiled.
- Fix for reported rare WAR-Floodgate crash.

Although it does not include all the patch notes, I thought I'd add this now so you get the general idea of what will change in the next major World of Warcraft Patch 2.4.0.
The image on the Blizzard Entertainment Splash Page is updated, continuing to raise expectations that an announcement is forthcoming from this weekend's Worldwide Invitational event.
Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that The Sims Castaway Stories for the PC is on store shelves across Europe.

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.

Just for you, some Medieval 2 cheats.
| Unreal Tournament 3 January 21, 2008 If you hate Unreal, then stop reading here since probably
nothing is going to change your mind. If you`re expecting something new, like
planting bombs or headshots with more than the sniper rifle, then go back to
playing Counterstrike. If, however, you`re just itching for some fast paced
action and hearing "Dominating" or "Double kill" whenever you kill someone,
then you`ve come to the right place! [...] |
