Unreal Tournament 3 - Game Review (PC)

Print One of the most important changes that Unreal 3 has brought is the fact that you can control Necris vehicles in this part. The spider looking, fast moving vehicles look great and are a pleasure to drive. There is nothing like maneuvering the Dark Walker (the hardest hitting Necris vehicle that looks like the aliens from War of the Worlds) around some deserted streets, waiting for poor victims to come out from hiding. Even though it is hard to aim, because of its bulk, one shot from its twin laser cannons will kill any player and will seriously damage any vehicle. The secondary fire causes a shockwave under it, that will throw players backward and will stun them just enough for them to say "Respawner, here I come again...". I won`t spoil the other vehicles for you, as each one has something special that makes them different from their Axon counter parts. You will find your favorite between the fast Viper, the rolling Scavanger, imposing Dark Walker, stealthy Nightshade or the flying Fury.
Warfare is a combination of Assault and Onslaught. There are several nodes on the map, linked between one another. To win, you have to capture nodes in a sequence, which will in turn make the enemy core vulnerable to attacks. Once the core is destroyed, you are victorious. What may sound easy in theory, is usually harder in practice, and that`s the case here as well. You can capture nodes by running into them and waiting for the node to be taken over. While you have ownership of a node, you have certain advantages, like certain vehicles and a forward spawn point. There are unlinked notes on the map that, like normal nodes, provide an important spawn point, vehicles, and sometimes there are countdown nodes. These are nodes that provide another major advantage when captured. They usually trigger certain events, like a power overload that will damage the enemy core directly, Leviathan construction, and so on. The fact that you actually have to think to win, with some members trying to capture a certain node, while others infiltrate the main base and wait by the core for it to become vulnerable, makes it easy to see why it is the most popular game mode on the net.
If two teams of equal skill face off, or two skilled clans, then watching the games becomes like watching a good football match. Diversions, stealth attacks, vehicle strikes, everything is available. You must always take into consideration the orb that will allow you to instantly convert an enemy node, without wasting time to destroy it. The orbs are always shown on the map, so when you pick up an orb, be prepared to be targeted by everyone. If you die, the orb will be dropped on the ground, for one of your team mates to pick up. If the orb is too close to a node, and the enemy team decides it is too dangerous, then one of them can commit suicide and the orb will be destroyed. I won`t go into further detail, because there are certain things that can`t be explained and you have to play to understand everything. Be warned that one Warfare match may take anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours.
If this sounds too complicated and you just want to blast your next door neighbor to smithereens, then the classical Deathmatch is available. The weapons should be familiar to anyone who has played the previous parts. The Enforcer and the Impact Hammer have returned, replacing the Assault Rifle and Shield Gun from Unreal 2003 and 2004. I always loved the Enforcer and its dual wield option, so I`m happy to see it come back. The impact hammer, while lacking usefulness in combat, has the major advantage of being able to cause a shock wave that will cause power ups to drop from players. The "Green Blob of Death" (or Bio Rifle, as some call it), is as dangerous as ever, as one powered up shot will instantly kill anyone not wearing a shield belt.

Although it does not include all the patch notes, I thought I'd add this now so you get the general idea of what will change in the next major World of Warcraft Patch 2.4.0.

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
