World of Warcraft - Game Review (PC)

And now... time for a Party!

Almost every bad thing in this game can be forgiven... in the moment you find another person to play with! There is nothing like some other person to brag about your loot, do quests with and play all day and night. When you reach level 20 or so, you will have the possibility to do instances. You usually need a 5 man party to do those. Instances involve doing some quests together in a special place, that is separate from the rest of the world. Meaning, it's just you guys, and AI controlled monsters. And bosses. And respawns. And loot. And items.

What??!! It's cold in Naxx!

As you grow in level, you will find some instances that require you to have up to 40 people! These parties are called “Raids”. For this purpose players can unite into “Guilds”, and attempt to do these raids into certain instances, to get higher level items.

But...

...there is no point in skipping ahead. I'll talk a bit about leveling up. Reaching maximum level in the game (60) takes an average of 2-4 months (for your first character at least). I saw guides claiming to teach you how to level up to 60 in 10 days! It is possible... I suppose... But... you are gonna loose a lot of content and gaming experience if you do. It may be just me, but I play a game to have fun. To relax. Some people can take games too seriously these days. I see missing 3/4 of the game content in order to reach maximum level fast something ... like... stealing your own hat! Play it “the way it's meant to be played” (as some “classic” would say).

Omg! Big Crit! With Puddin and Kebab yummm! Hey Pud! /wave

In order to help you out with in-game money, Blizzard decided each character could have a couple of professions. You can slowly build your skill in these professions up to a maximum level of 300, and you can find recipes/patterns/schematics from various NPCs and drops from monsters. You can choose from a variety of professions:

Gathering Professions – you gather raw materials required to produce things; they can be sold for some profit.

  • Herbalism: teaches you how to gather herbs
  • Mining: the ability to mine, using a mining pick
  • Skinning:use a skinning knife to skin the beasts you kill

Production Professions – you make useful items for your adventures, or for selling.

  • Alchemy: the ability to produce potions out of herbs; one of the best professions in the game both for self and for making money; use in conjunction with herbalism
  • Blacksmithing: can be used to make weapons and armors; especially good for warriors and heavy armor classes in general; not necessarily high profit
  • Enchanting: enchant your weapons and equipment with magical properties; could be the most money making professions in the game, but you need to invest in the most
  • Engineering: clearly a PvP skill, you don't gain much money but it complements your offensive/defensive potential; you can make all kinds of devices like grenades, mines, cloaking device, death ray, etc.
  • Leatherworking: you can make usually leather items from the skins obtained from monsters (used with skinning); not too profitable, especially because you will be asked to skin/craft items for the Guild at high levels, so no money for you
  • Tailoring: you can usually craft cloth items from the different types of cloth found in game at the humanoids you kill; a decent profit profession, and can be used well for you as well

Try to pick these early and develop them. Choose the two wisely, according to your character. Additionally, you can learn Cooking, Fishing and First Aid, with all your characters.

Nice lamp!

Welcome back, LEGION. Indeed, Joe Kucan is back, portraying the legendary self-proclaimed prophet Kane, through 20 years of Command and Conquer history: past, present and future. The 13 missions spread story explains what happened to the Brotherhood of Nod right after the Second Tiberium War, and fill the history gap left by the original Command and Conquer 3. And then of course some more, the action takes us a bit more into the future, showing just a sneak peak of the shape of things to come.

Sins of a Solar Empire
The stellar "Sins of a Solar Empire" hits our PCs with a unique interesting new combination of game genres and a few cool ideas that should draw the attention of quite a few strategy fans. The newcomer Ironclad Games managed the impossible and created a competitive title indeed. But aside from all the prays and high marks this game received overall, its approach on RTS and the mix of elements it brings, one can find some things that will bother a few players and that will eventually influence the grades of this review. Ok, let's take it from the top.
Sherlock Holmes versus Arsene Lupin
Sherlock Holmes, the worlds` greatest detective, created by Arthur Conan Doyle is about to face his biggest challenge so far: Arsene Lupin, the worlds` greatest thief, created by Maurice Leblanc. Who is going to win this battle of wits? Who is going to be victorious, and, most importantly, who would you like to see as the winner?
Silent Hunter 4: Pacific U-Boat Missions
I thought a bit about how to start this. While saying that Silent Hunter IV is the best submarine simulator out there is true, it doesn't mean much, especially for new players. Saying it is one of the best simulator games out there is again accurate, but again, a bit of an understatement. Why? Well because... despite the high complexity and realism involved, Ubisoft Romania managed to develop a game that is appealing to the beginners as well, in a certain degree.
Sword of the New World: Granado Espada
Lineage II had it share of success. At the time the game was released, it was one of the most beautiful MMOG on the market. To take its place as the most beautiful MMOG, the Ragnarok Online (or RO) developers from imcGames created Sword of the New World: Granado Espada.
GC: Disciples 3: Renaissance
We were able to take part in 2 battles and what we saw pleased us. The transition to the 3D helped the game and gave it a better view on the battlefield. You can move the camera and this way you get a better look at the action. The units are amazing and their animations are clean and good looking. Same goes for spells and effects: you will love what you see.
Nitro Stunt Racing Stage 1
Last week I began to search some new independent games. Suddenly I stumbled upon this interesting racing game called Nitro Stunt Racing. The title sounds non-original but the content tends to be if not original, at least interesting.
GC: Aion Tower of Eternity
In a perfect world, everything is controlled by a balance between Chaos and Order. But what happens if things start to get messy and a great evil is about to unleash an epic conflict onto the universe? This is what NCsoft decided to unveil and also explain why Aion is a MMO bound to have success.
Race 07
So here I am back on the road with a BMW. This time in Race 07 demo. The only racing-simulation game that really impressed me at GC. But only with the help of the Steam client which probably will become the "god" of online distribution! Anyway a big minus for this decision of playing the game only through Steam.
