14 Mar 2005 - Why grandma, what big phat loot you have...

Life as I see it is this: you are born thinking that you are the best - number one. And then, as you grow older, it starts teaching you its lesson in humility. Life hits you every chance it gets. And, exactly like in boxing, you can't keep your guard up all the times. What matters the most is endurance, and perseverance. The fact we are different makes us special, unique, but the process also makes unfair choices. In the end, like Rocky said in its last movie “it doesn't matter how hard you can kick, it matters how many times you can get hit and still get up”. This process, that tries to shape everyone of us over the years, can be found in everything. Including a simple, and probably to be forgotten in some years, computer game like World of Warcraft (well, not necessarily forgotten, I don't want to be harsh: not played that much).

On a more personal note, I've been watching the Roswell series lately. I know I know, old stuff. But I never got a chance to watch it, and when I saw the first 5 minutes I was forever drawn to it. The show is not as “hardcore” as Star Trek for example, but it has got some sci-fi elements, and it's worm - a show with a heart - one of the aspects few to none have. I find TV shows in general today tend to be a lot more commercial and in lower numbers.

And now, back to WoW, life, and punches. It was a calm week, I only did Black Morass like 50 times more to help others get attuned for Karazan. People need to learn to respec geesh. At least for this instance, if it's not working.

We did quite good in Karazan, and managed to get to the fourth boss. It's hilarious to see Warlocks die for once from undead elites, because they hit for ~18k, and Mages surviving because of invisibility. Later on, some big skelies that come in packs of two have an interesting thing: they switch aggro every 30 seconds between them, and they put the first person on the aggro list in an ice cube from time to time. Warriors have to play good and use spell reflect wisely. All in all, a challenging fight. At the third boss, you get to a theater stage where a classic play is on, with you starring in it. The play can be one of the following: Wizard of Oz, Little Red Riding Hood and Romulo and Julianne.

As you may have guessed already from the title, the play we were in was

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf

Karazan seems a fun instance as a whole. We had a really good time running around as Little Red Riding Hood with the Big Bad Wolf chasing you every 30 seconds for the duration of this boss fight. Mages and Hunters seem to react faster when they are changed into Little Red, for obvious reasons, but for priests it's a disaster as the have to react very fast. The fact that the targets are randomly picked doesn't help either - a dwarf priest was picked for 5 times in a row...

“No, I don't want to see your puppies, I want a shag damn it!” - Serafina, our beloved Guild Master asked me for a translation for this in Romanian, since we got several Romanians in the guild (friends of mine). I don't know, I guess if you want to be cool and learn to swear in Romanian, you can always ask me, that's what they pay me for... (hmmmm).

Arena Update

It was an interesting week in Arena, I got invited in a 5vs5 team. It was a pick up, so no tactics and no teamspeak. We won two matches out of 10. Then everyone decided to leave the team hahaha. The priest kept yelling “Protect me! Protect me!”, and claimed that he can take everyone down if he is well protected... He made me say “Hey, if I don't die, I can kill them too! Can't we all?”. It was funny at least.

2vs2 wise, me and Lucianus did good considering we are both more PvE specced (him holy, me fire), we won more matches than we lost; we are starting to play better - a bit. I still think they should give you at least 1 point for a won match, to encourage you to play more than 10 per week. I'd even say give 1 arena point for a loss and 3 for a win, plus the bonus for the ranking. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I am closing this, Sony sent us a new pack of games today and they are here now. Keep your fingers crossed! Laters!

Yes that is a nice idea but have you ever thought of going up to the biggest guy on the subway and telling him your thoughts on this. I wonder what he might do, or would you even do it. As in video games, you play with concentration. Also you enjoy very much. If you don't play with concentration, you find that you have loosed win. That teach us how we should have to prepare to win. Same way that happens in real life. In fact these games come from our society.

Battlefield Bad Company 2
March 16, 2010
The Battlefield franchise has been one of the few to preserve the high standards in multiplayer and somehow succeeded in coming up fresh all the time. Bad Company added some extra flavor with the brilliant singleplayer campaign, so it's only natural that the sequel was highly anticipated. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 might not be a giant leap forward from the previous title but it is still an excellent game, that will please both the dedicated fans and the newcomers who are bound to enjoy every minute of this sequel.  [...]

NecroVision: Lost Company
March 11, 2010
It's an amazing thing that actually The Farm 51 were able to create a prequel to their old-school zombie shooter in this hard times when even a blockbuster creator like Infinty Ward (for instance) are on the brink of collapse. But I assume the zombies' subject is still a popular and cheap element to exploit. NecroVision : Lost Company is slightly better than the original, but is still a mediocre game which scores at the gore section but brings nothing new.  [...]

Gratuitous Space Battles The Order Expansion Pack
March 8, 2010
Most videogames featuring large scale battles involving hefty fleets colliding in space, perceive the initial setup as nothing more then a prelude for the actual combat. Gratuitous Space Battles on the other hand focuses entirely on designing and deploying a balanced armada that is capable of annihilating the enemy fleet on its own. Once the battleships are in position, the orders have been issued and the fight commences, all you can do is sit back and enjoy the fireworks. Suffice to say this is one amazing show.  [...]
