On 15th of May the new album from Linkin Park was released worldwide. The album is the result of a huge work process stretched on 14 months in the studio. For the album the boys wrote 101 song demos. From this huge amount only 17 songs were recorded and only 12 reached in the album. My opinion is that this is a huge waste of time and money. Too much time spent in the studio might burn your brain and obviously destroy your creation process. This is what I felt listening for the first time this album. I really have waited for this release, but God knows how bored I was listening to it. All twelve songs are quite different including all kinds of music styles, from nu-metal, indie-rock, electro-punk, pop, etc. But none of them can be considered as a masterpiece. One good exception might be the single "What I've done". The bad exception is "Shadow of the day", a song that easily can make it to the Eurovision contest. The sound and style is radically changed, and I have to say not in a good sense. But Mike Shinoda has a perfect excuse for this change in style: "a breakthrough in the development of the band's sound." For sure the album will be a perfect mainstream product, with big sales.
My harmful opinion is that Linkin Park is not rocking anymore, and they changed their sound into a soap-opera style.
