Ozzy Osbourne: Black Rain

On the same date 22 May, besides Maroon 5, another artist released a new album. And I'm not talking of a mediocre one. He is the Godfather of Heavy Metal, a true living legend: Ozzy Osbourne. I never thought that he will release a new album after his reality show "The Osbourne's". But he actually did, and as the single song says: "I don't wanna stop" he doesn't want to stop. All songs were written by Ozzy, Zakk Wylde, and Kevin Churko. Zakk Wylde's guitar is extremely present in every song with his pitch harmonics at every step. But I think that Kevin Churko is the one responsible for the good quality of the album and for the processing Ozzy's voice. It's obvious he cannot sing like before, so a lot of voice filters were used. These effects can be easily recognized on almost every song, but especially on "I don't wanna stop". As Zakk declared last year in an interview, the new Ozzy album had to be a follow up to "No more tears", and some of the album's structure can be sensed also here. Especially the usage of the synthesizer present on "The Almighty Dollar". "Lay your world on me", and "Here for you" are typically ballads for Ozzy's style. And as every true Ozzy fan knows, these both songs are dedicated in general to his wife Sharon. This album is better than 2001's "Down to Earth", although it continues with the same style. It brings nothing new to the Metal scene, but every new Ozzy Osbourne album is a statement of true Heavy Metal music.
