The Bogey Man is all about golf in the most Aardman's traditional way. Involved in a misunderstanding situation in the former episode, Wallace has to change Felicity Flitt's mind regarding the false gesture as a marriage proposal. His only solution is to be accepted into the prestigious Prickly Thicket country club in order to win a chance for the marriage reprieve by the Flitt family. It seems that a centuries-old dispute between the family and the country club makes the Flitt's female members refuse marriage proposals from any golf player. Once Wallace is admitted in the club he realizes that a much larger mystery has to be solved in order to protect his home and the entire West Wallaby Street.

Like in Muzzled, the fourth episode features the same scheme, recycling some of the old places but concentrating the main story and puzzles into a new location (this time the Prickly Thicket country club).  Here is where you will make contact with some new contraptions which will deliver important clues and objects to unravel the mystery behind the club and its members.

Either you play with Wallace or with Gromit, the difficulty of the puzzles has increased considerably compared to the other episodes. Most of the puzzles are based on logical deduction and a good knowledge of the dialogs. But unlike in Muzzled the developers didn't exaggerate so much with the interactivity aspect between NPC's and the player. If you gather all the possible objects from the environment and listen carefully to what each character has to say every puzzle becomes easy to be solved. The only problems I encountered were when I had to choose the right objects from my ever growing inventory. You will find plenty of objects which will mislead you to take wrong decisions and therefore you will lose plenty of time finding the right solution for some of the puzzles.

The most memorable puzzle is in the sand room where Wallace has to command all characters to move side-ways in order to get him to the exit door of the room. Depending on the position in the room and on the relationships between characters, Wallace will cause some of them to express their feelings regarding others, making the scene not only hilarious but also original.

From the graphics and sound point of view nothing has changed. The characters feature the same wax-like figures simulating the classic stop motion technique. Voice acting is performed by the same crew from the other three episodes delivering the same good quality and credibility.

Conclusion

Probably this is the best episode from the whole series ending the first season admirable and leaving the fans with the feeling that this is not the end of Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures.
