Wingmans
At the introduction the main wingmans are presented:
Carter is a Brawler - Same as a Blocker (from PC version) trigger his move and he'll lay some smack down on a rival race car.
Then there is Sara (which was Mick's girlfriend), she is a Drafter - and if you ride in her wake she will build up your acceleration
Another type of wingman is the Assasin - s/he will lay a spike strip that blows the tires of any cars that go over it. Watch out! If you hit the strip, you'll blow your tires too!
You can have up to 2 wingmans helping you in races and every time you race and win they receive skill points increasing their level... so they can block better, put more acurate spike traps or increase your speed quicker.
Some wingmans have a sub-class called Fixer or Mechanic. Having a Fixer as a wingman means that he can fix the race so you'll get a little extra cash every time you win while the Mechanic gives you a little extra horsepower during the race.
After basic wingmans are introduces and you see their moves it's time to pick your car. There are no more types of cars like the PC version (muscle, exotic, tuner) but still there are plenty of cars to choose from. You must also pick a crew tag and the crew name. Your crew has a respect level. That's the total of every driver's skill. Their skill goes up the more you race and win. As you slowly take over the city the rival racers will want to join your crew. If you don't have enough respect, new recruits won't want to roll with you.

In Need for Speed: Carbon - Own the City there are 6 types of races:
Circuit is a lap based race. You must finish the last lap first to win
Sprint is a point to point race - the first to cross the finish line wins
Lap Knockout eliminates the races in last place after every lap. The last car racing is the winner. First place wins as usual. Don't get caught in the back of the pack or your race will get cut short.
Escape from the enemy crew - get out of their territory before the time runs out. The rival crew doesn't want you around. They're after you and will do whatever it takes to make sure you don't make your getaway in time.
Deliver the package before anyone else to win. It's first or nothing. Think yourself as a courier
Takedown enemy crew members before the time runs out. The harder you hit a car, the more damage they take. Once enemy cars start to smoke, they are 1 hit away from being taken out. Chase these bad dudes down and smack them around to knock them out of action.

In the crew house you can customize your cars( buy other cars or choose to compete with another owned car;install Visual parts - Body kits, Spoilers,Vinyls or Rims.. everything you need you'll find it here; or install Performance parts - Engine, Handling, Chassis, Turbo and Nitro are the performance you're gonna get). You can also pick a crew tag, a crew name recruit new wingmans or install visual upgrades on wingmans cars. If you want to can jump into the city and explore the roads looking for races or if you're the type DRIVE! DRIVE! DRIVE! you can select the Map and start events direcly from there.

Gameplay: 85
Having a strong storyline, different kind of races it not likely that you will get bored playing this game. The wingman concept is another strong point despite the fact that sometimes they do more damage than they help. Sometimes you might have the feeling that this is more arcade because of the un-realistic impacts. There isn't much traffic in Coast City either if you're in a race or in free-roam but sometimes you bump into other racers or police cars.
Graphics: 80
Having in mind that this is a PSP version the graphic is good and the framerate is preety solid. Some graphic glitches occur when your car is too close to a rival car. If you want to see the motion blur and feel the speed effect, that will happen' only when you have some horsepower on your car.

Multiplayer: 90
Play ranked or unranked races and start matching the power of your car with other racers. Not being many players the game runs smoothly without lagging or chopped framerates.
Sounds: 90
As always EA has a great selection of tracks that will make you drive like a mad man. Either if you listen to rock-metal, hip-hop or electric tracks... you'll forget that you have to brake.
