As I said, Heavenly Sword is typically beat-'em-up game where you don't even need to bother to control the camera angle. It will adjust automatically for every scene that follows. And it does a good job. I never got blocked because of a visual dead angle. But let me tell you what caught my attention really. Because of its short length of the demo I couldn't make a clearly opinion of what the gameplay can really offer, but I was hit by the cinematic scenes which are perfectly included into the gameplay and bring no dead moments, but increase the curiosity of the player and the adrenaline.

At some moments you can actually control the cinematic by pushing the suggested buttons in order to control the character to the desired destination instead of falling or getting killed. This is not a new method and it was already used in other games, but here it really makes sense. Like the scene when you run on some ropes at high altitude and try to get on a pillar where you have to beat some soldiers. One of them will cut a rope while you are running so you have to jump on another. The whole scene runs quickly and you have to pay attention to what buttons the game suggests to push in order to get out of this mess.

But what Sony really wanted to pointed out at E3 was the face-gestures technology used to give life to the characters. Every cinematic scene inspires emotion. They used real actors to interpret the characters, wireless microphones and infra-red motion capture cameras for recording every move, sound and gesture. What really shocked me was the gestures of the main character Nariko while in in-game action. She really looks alive while she is fighting. This means that some fighting scenes were really played by actors to give a higher emotional sense.

The problem is that the demo is very short. If you are into these kind of game, you can complete it in about six minutes. So its hard to create an impression about it. Although you have from the beginning access to a dozen of combos, you don't have enough time to use them.

Anyway at the moment Heavenly Sword seems to be at the pick of beat-'em-up games. With top graphics and amazing cinematic performances, the game will be a hit this fall.
